Black matte on black frame

After the framing job I had gotten done at Creative Frames turned out so well, I wanted to get a couple more pieces for the apartment. I wanted it to be something a little more personal and, thus, I decided on two charcoal life drawings a much younger me had the pleasure of creating.

For the two drawings, I selected among my favourites male and female pieces, just to balance it out. After picking them, the difference in my styles with different subjects was apparent. For female subjects, I draw more softly and more smoothly with fewer lines. For male subjects, the lines depicting the musculature and the faces are squarer and more jagged.

As for the frames, my first choice was going back to Steve at Creative Frames. Their work was excellent and reasonably priced. However, as a maximiser (as opposed to a satisficer), I had to see what else was out there. I dropped into a couple other places and rang a few others (admittedly, it is not fair to ask a framer to quote over the phone). The quotes I got (face-to-face with my drawings; or over the phone) were not nearly as competitive as Creative Frames.

So I drop by last Saturday with my drawings and, in line with the last job, the frames are turned around in one week.

I wanted a black frame with a black matte. Steve had some helpful suggestions and in the end, I went for a deep frame.

Visit once, a trial; visit twice, a regular. Another great job by Steve.

The word? Helpful constructive suggestions on their wide range of frames emphasise their value and expertise. Will do business with again (sounds like eBay seller feedback!).
