Pho An

Another Saturday looking at property in the South West. We’re slowly discovering all the awesome places to eat out here.

Both being lovers of pho, V and I drop into the famous Pho An in Bankstown. I wonder… how does it rate to the similarly named Pho Ann?

The litmus test: the Combination Beef Pho. Massive bowl with an acceptable amount of meat. Soup was definitely tasty; real fatty goodness.

Combination Beef Pho $13

Relatively speaking, Pho Ann (with the extra ‘n’) in Cabramatta still makes the largest, meatiest bowl of pho I’ve had.

Bellies full, we then took the opportunity to wander Bankstown. I hadn’t actually been to the Bankstown shops in years… The first of my only two times here was a random trip with Terri, Rob and Mat years ago. Everything looked the same but busier. Took some more pics at a food festival we’d stumbled upon.

No idea what this was

Game of wits

The word? It’s the most I’d ever paid and the farthest I’d travelled for real pho (barring Miss Chu). Service was brisk; atmosphere was acceptable (ie eat and leave). Is it worth the travel? I certainly know at least one couple who make this pilgrimage routine. Alas, not for me… but I’d love it to be my local.
