Breakfast last Sunday morning was at Tigerbakers, a café that also twilights as a bar. A Darlo oldie; it’s been around a few years now.
I had the BBQ Lamb Sandwich with tomato, lettuce, homous, cucumber, mint, harissa & yoghurt on turkish, which was a fantastic surprise. The yoghurt and cucumber gave it a deliciously unexpected Greek flavour.
B had the Jumbo Breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, hash brown & toast. It appeared to be a standard big breakfast but B said the mushrooms were particularly tasty.
Though the big breakfast appeared to be unremarkable, the sandwich was fantastic. I’ll definitely be back for that but probably not on a Sunday; the Sunday prices were roughly 30% dearer.
The space itself was vibrantly decorated with a mishmash of items. The outside and two sections within were partitioned by two ledges against which patrons could perch on stools. Surprisingly well lit for what appeared to be, from the outside, cavernously low ceilings. This would be a cool place to have some drinks prior to heading out.
The word? The great food was accompanied by good service. Great spot for brekkie on a sunny day. The Sunday prices were a bit exorbitant; at these prices, I’d rather go to Bunker or Forbes & Burton.
